Our Craft
100% Pennsylvania-made, co-created with you.
Grown here. Milled here. Built here.
Every Lock & Grain piece starts in Pennsylvania hardwood country — Oak, Cherry, Walnut, and Hard Maple, rough-cut at small mills and kiln-dried to 6–8% moisture before it reaches our shop. The steel for our frames is American flatbar, cut and painted in-house. No MDF, no veneer, no engineered panels, no parts that aren't what they look like.
Made by hand, in Tyrone.
Our workshop sits in the Tyrone Innovation Zone, less than 300 miles from where the wood was felled. Every piece is sanded, drilled, and assembled by craftspeople in our shop — not on a factory line. We work to order in small batches, which is why our lead time is two to six weeks instead of two to six months: the work is happening on a benchtop, not a container ship.
Built to last decades.
A Lock & Grain table is meant to be in your home for the long run. Solid hardwood ages — it patinas, it accepts repair, it holds up to children and pets and the corner of a chair. The piece underneath is the real thing: 3/4-inch hardwood top on a painted-steel frame, made by people you can email.
